Imagine coming face to face with the famous and the infamous icons of Australian history in an award winning, architecturally stunning building.

The National Portrait Gallery is a dramatic and culturally rich venue for your wedding. Our elegant building has the greatest respect for the local environment, natural light and human proportions.

With each space designed to capture Canberra’s unique quality of light – the National Portrait Gallery presents a personality as vibrant and varied as those on display inside.

We can tailor your dinner or cocktail reception, conference or presentation to include one or more of our spaces, guaranteeing variety, grandeur or intimacy.

  • The stunning Gordon Darling Hall never fails to impress, with its soaring ceiling and natural light. Included in the Hall is the Entrance Forecourt, an ideal all weather venue for pre-dinner drinks.
  • Our Terrace Rooms open onto a north facing, outdoor heated terrace leading onto the Gordon Darling Hall, offering variety depending on your needs. The Terrace Rooms are naturally lit and can be divided into two smaller rooms, hired individually or together.
  • The Liangis Theatre seats up to 110 guests in tired seating and features a breakout space ideal for registration and catering.
